Happy Tuesday! I thought a little recipe would be in order, even if this blog is still under construction.  You don’t mind…do you?  I thought not!  :)

Sassy Shrimp Dip Appetizer Recipe

Deliciousness on a Cracker!

I had a craving for a little something that just HAD to include shrimp.  Over the years, I’ve made several seafood/shrimp dips/spreads/salads.

But, today I  didn’t really want to look up a recipe.  Solution…I made my very own.  I like that.  Simple, easy food…using ingredients on hand and a little imagination!

Sassy Shrimp Dip – my very own recipe!  Yay!

Here’s the ingredients, prep instructions and serving suggestions.  I hope you enjoy it.

Sweet comments are always welcome!  This is a great spread for crackers when served cold.  I think a warm version with a little parmesan sprinkled on top would work great as a dip. Please let me know if you try it warm.  We eat it so fast that it doesn’t have a chance of getting warm in an oven.   ;)

Sassy Shrimp Dip

  •  8 ounce Cream Cheese – softened
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 green onion – finely sliced
  • 1 stalk celery – diced finely
  • 4 – 6 ounces of cooked shrimp ( you could use leftover, or freshly grilled, steamed or even canned shrimp).
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste – start with a teaspoon and adjust according to your taste.  It will add a freshness to your dip!
  • Cajun seasoning to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Savory Seasoning – a few dashes
  • Tabasco or Frank’s Hot Sauce for garnish (it snazzes it up a notch)
  • Your favorite Crackers – I had Ritz on hand and a few Thin Crisp Triscuits…but chose the Ritz. Delicious choice!

Place  the cream cheese in a medium size bowl…I use my medium pyrex nesting bowl.  :) Stir well, until it has a soft creamy texture, with your favorite wooden spoon. Now stir in the mayo, green onion, celery and lemon juice. Mix well.   Next add a few sprinkles of the Cajun seasoning, black pepper and the savory seasoning.  Flavors will build as it sits in fridge…so go lightly at first.  If you like things with lots of spiciness and flavor…then add more!  Simple, huh?  After all has been mixed, then fold in the chopped shrimp (if using canned shrimp there is no need to chop, just rinse and drain prior to adding to cream cheese mixture). Make sure the shrimp is mixed in well.  Chill in fridge prior to serving. Then serve with crackers of your choice.  Don’t forget to add a dash of your favorite hot sauce!

I admit… I rarely wait for this chilling process.  This sassy shrimp dip tastes great to me when freshly made.  So, I load a cracker with the delicious dip and add a dash of tabasco….yummmmm!
