Glitter Pumpkins

Glitter, glitter….EVERYWHERE!

October is one of the most wonderful months of the year!  I love the change of seasons, the cooler days, autumn leaves and the smells of fall.  Ahhh, just makes me happy!

One of the first projects of fall…glitter pumpkins.

colors of fall

3 autumns ago,  I was inspired by Martha Stewart (the one and only) and I  made 4 lovely glittered pumpkins.  It was so much fun and so easy!  This year I decided to make a whole patch of pumpkins…glittered, of course!

Martha’s own glitter

I love this glitter.  I used the superfine and a few containers of coarse glitter. It really doesn’t matter.  The coarse glitter will give a little more texture to your pumpkins.  It adds a little variety!

I gathered my faux pumpkins, some glitter glue, an old craft paint brush, water for dipping, a few paper plates and a variety of fall colored glitter.  The process is simple…just paint the pumpkins with glue and sprinkle glitter.  I usually do it in sections allowing the areas to dry with the glitter before applying more glue and repeating the process.  It is a bit messy, but so much fun!  Remember to do it in an area that you don’t mind having sprinkled with glitter.  I chose my deck for this project.  It wasn’t a windy day, so this spot was perfect!

during the project…

The glitter should be gently applied and then shake the remainder over a paper plate or some newspapers so you can save it to apply to another pumpkin or project.

My row of pumpkins all lined up and drying in the sun.  It takes a few hours for the glue to dry completely.  After the glue has dried you will want to gently shake the pumpkins again to remove any loose glitter.    Then place wherever you need a little Fall sparkle.

Those pumkins from 3 years ago are still beautiful and the glitter stays intact.  I store mine in a jumbo plastic resealable bag or a large plastic tub.  They require only a shake to remove any loose glitter and they are good to go. These things will last for years and remain just as pretty as the day you glittered them.

Try this project and enjoy your beautifully unique pumpkins!

Happy Fall Y’all!!!  Hugs…

Lisa
