Garlic Chicken Puffs – A Quick & Easy Appetizer

Garlic Chicken Puffs – A Quick & Easy Appetizer

A Few Garlic Chicken Puff Appetizers

Delicious Little Bites

It’s almost time for New Years Eve!

We like to stay home, make some quick appetizers and watch movies.  Nothing too fancy for us!  It is nice to stay in after all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Here is one of our favorite quick appetizers.  You don’t need anything fancy and no one will know you didn’t spend hours whipping up these delectable bites.

Savory Goodness

I’ve adapted the recipe a few times and it’s always a hit!

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 to 1.5 cups cooked, shredded chicken (I use leftover baked, grilled, or rotisserie chicken)
  • Dried Herbs – basil, thyme, or rosemary – optional; just use a pinch or two to taste
  • 2 to 3 large cans of refrigerator crescent rolls
  • Poppy Seeds / Sesame Seeds – optional
  • Dipping Sauce of Your Choice  -this is totally optional, but it adds a nice touch.  We like Frank’s Red Hot Sweet Chili Sauce.

  • Mix the softened cream cheese, garlic and chicken until well blended.
  • Add your choice of dried herbs, to taste.  We like to mix it up and a little bit of rosemary and thyme to our cream cheese mixture.
  • Unroll your crescent rolls and place on a flat surface.  Leave the triangles attached and using your fingers, squish the seam to make one oblong piece of dough.  You will have 2 of these per can of crescent rolls.
  • Now take a few tablespoons of the cream cheese filling and place in the middle of the length of the rolls.  Bring the sides up to form a log.  The amount of filling you add should be generous, but should still allow for the rolls to seal or almost seal as a seam on top.  I usually just use my fingers to form a log on top of the dough and then pull the dough up around the mixture.
  • Slice the log into approximately 1 inch pieces and place on a cookie sheet.
  • Sprinkle with your choice of poppy seeds or sesame seeds.  This is optional, but makes the puffs a little more fancy.
  • Bake at 375 for 11-13 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • Serve warm with or without a dipping sauce.

My Garlic Chicken Puffs is actually a doubled recipe.  It makes about 60-64 puffs.  You can certainly halve the recipe to make fewer.
