CHALK PAINT MAKEOVER
Saturday night was Auction Night a couple of weeks ago. My poor little Booth was suffering from lack of furniture. That is a good thing because my painted pieces have been flying out the door. I needed to find some “new” old, antique furniture to give a makeover with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® …fast!
We tried a different auction about 40 miles away in Georgia. We scored 2 great little Chest of Drawers. Nothing else really caught my eye. But, these two beauties were just screaming for a makeover with Chalk Paint!
Scratches and years of wear and tear were evident. Enter a little cleaning (they always look clean in the auction house, but let me tell you they are D.I.R.T.Y!). Well, maybe a lot of cleaning with some Murphy’s Oil Soap, water and a lot of elbow grease.
Enter my favorite and the most fun part – The Paint! I always choose Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® .
Next, I needed to pick a color. I tend to pick colors that I love and can imagine in a new and different home.
For the first piece I chose Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® Duck Egg for the Exterior and Provence Chalk Paint for the inside of the drawers.
The second piece was a mixture of Antoinette and Old White Chalk Paint. The inside of the drawers were painted in a mixture of Provence and Duck Egg Chalk Paint.
I was super excited that all of the original hardware was in good shape and on each piece. Often, one or two handles will be missing or broken. All handles and knobs were in great shape and would be perfect with just a little cleaning.
A lot of cleaning and a little paint really can make a huge difference!
For more information on using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® you can go here and here.
Both of the pieces of furniture were bought at auction on Saturday night, cleaned and repaired on Sunday afternoon. Then painted, waxed and distressed on Monday. They were then priced and delivered to our Booth at Old South Antique Mall on Tuesday. How’s that for a fast turn around?
I love chalk paint… The colors, the coverage, the possibilities, and the ease of clean-up.
Have you tried Chalk Paint? What is your favorite “go to” paint? Would love to hear from you!
Have a great week!!
